What Our Clients Say

Testimonials

Director MWAT Ltd

Andrew Watkin

I can unreservedly recommend DEC and am impressed with the speed at which they delivered our project in the East Midlands. Intermediate pressure gas connections are complex, and it's clearly apparent that DEC has detailed knowledge of the approval processes and how to navigate through them efficiently. Working with Eric from DEC has been a great experience including the fact that they delivered the connection ahead of schedule and on budget!

Frequently Asked Questions

This will ultimately depend on your requirements. We would usually start with a discussion around the project deliverables (how much gas you need, and at what pressure), and from there undertake an evaluation of the local gas network to establish a suitable point of connection. We have the option of a high-level pressure and capacity check (5-10 days), or a formal point of connection quotation (4-6 weeks), which involves us liaising with the incumbent network operator. We would usually run the design and construction budget process with the network applications to keep the timelines as streamlined as possible, with communication along the way to ensure we’re aligned on project viability. Subject to capacity being available, and our budget indications being within the project budget, we would hope to have a firm quote for the project within 6 weeks of initial enquiry.

We carry out a full design specification and technical evaluation to assess the commercial and technical risks to the project from the outset. Our aim is to fully de-risk the project for the developer/investor during the DEVEX phase, so that there are no nasty surprises during construction. As we have extensive experience supporting clients with investor due diligence, we understand the issues that can arise when UIP’s make assumptions within the construction quote.

We also have the capability to undertake electric connection works via dedicated design resources and delivery partners.

Unfortunately, the timescales are not in line with our gas process (due to network operator timelines for quotation applications); however, the process for evaluating engineering risk is the same.

We can provide all-inclusive multi-utility quotations with the appropriate savings where there is a commonality in the route from network to site.

Whilst we prefer to control all aspects of project design and delivery, we have provided several clients with consultancy services for design and technical due diligence.

We also support clients in getting projects back on track where technical issues have arisen during construction, putting the project at risk of failing delivery and budgetary targets.

If you can provide us with the redline boundary for your site, and your ideal hourly volume of gas, we can generally do the rest.

If you have the data sheet for the gas engine, that would be even better. Even if our scope of works ends at the gas meter outlet, we like to ensure gas gets delivered at the optimal pressure and flow taking account of the

It’s difficult to give a steer on this, given the number of factors that impact the project delivery timescales. Typically, the key factors that impact delivery are local authority road opening notice periods, distance from the point of connection to the site, the complexity of the works, and if there are any enabling works such as network reinforcement. We can usually provide a steer on this early in the process to ensure no surprises.
